ABB AC31 is a compact programmable control system that USES basic application modules for applications ranging from 14 I/O points to 1000 I/O points and more. ABB AC31 system contains a basic CPU module AC31. AC31 family there are three kinds of basic unit: basic CPU - 40 series, contains the native I/O and extend the basic CPU I/O interface - 50 series, contains the native I/O and extended I/O interface and a CS31 basic CPU bus interface - 90 series, contains the native I/O and a CS31 bus interface basic unit configuration 40 and 50 series basic CPU can construct a variety of configurations. Each base unit contains a certain number of switching inputs and outputs. More I/O is configured to extend up to 6 local I/O modules depending on the base unit or to connect to remote I/O via CS31 twisted pair.
You can configure to: -40 series base Cpus, up to 110 point switching I/O or 48 point analog I/O, -50 series base Cpus, up to 1790 point switching I/O or 256 point analog I/O. Basic units 50 and 90 series basic cpus with no bus repeater can be configured with 500 m CS31 bus and with 3 bus Repeaters with 2000m CS31 bus (1 NCB or NCBR unit can be configured with 500 m bus extension).
