The signals applied to the analog inputs are fed to the analog-to-digital converter (V/F con-verter) via a semiconductor multiplexer (MUX) and high-impedance input amplifiers. The volt-age-to-frequency converter uses a module-internal reference voltage for automatic self-calibration.
The module processor reads the digitized input values, converts them, and stores them in the transfer memory (URAM). From here they are available to further processing in the central unit of the automation system.
Every 30 seconds, the module is automatically calibrated. This calibration, which takes 50 milliseconds, ensures that any temperature, ageing, or offset error in the entire circuitry is reduced to the error in the reference source.
