The 2711P-RN3 module from is a DH-485 communications module for the PanelView Plus 400 and 600 series terminals. The DH-485 network protocol is designed for industrial applications. It supports up to 32 devices which include MicroLogix 1000 controllers, SLC 500 systems, personal computers, and graphic terminals. If the 2711P-RN3 module is ordered separately, it should be attached to the base unit before installation. During installation, the power should be disconnected from the module. The module should be set display-side down on a flat surface. The label covering the connectors on the base unit of the module should be removed. Then the communication module should be positioned so that connectors on the communication module and base unit align. The communication module should then be pushed down so that the connector is properly seated and finally captive screws that secure the module to the terminal should be tightened.

When the 2711P-RN3 module is used with PanelView Plus 400 and 600 terminals, the cable length must be less than or equal to 98 feet in order to comply with the CE requirements. When longer cable lengths are required, either the 1761-NET-AIC or the 1747-AIC modules can be used. The 2711P-RN3 module supports ActiveX controls and integrates with software from third parties including Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer software. The minimum and maximum operating temperature for the 2711P-RN3 module are 0 and 55 degrees Celsius, respectively. The minimum and maximum storage temperature for the 2711P-RN3 module are 0 and 55 degrees Celsius, respectively. The relative humidity in the locations where the module is installed needs to be maintained between 5 and 95%. The recommended maximum operating altitude is 6561 feet. The operating shock rating for the 2711P-RN3 module is 15 G at 11 milliseconds and the non-operating shock rating is 30 G at 11 milliseconds.
